Two projects with the same raw crop can require different equipment when soil, maturity, defect level, cut tolerance, sanitation or package condition changes.

Capacity boundary: compare accepted kilograms per hour after trimming, peeling, cutting, washing, dewatering and rejects. Gross inlet rate alone can overstate the useful capacity of a complete line.

Peeling method

Cleaning, abrasive peeling and knife peeling are different jobs

Start with the required surface finish: soil removal, polishing or skin removal. A machine described as a washer or polisher should not be assumed to deliver a specified peeled finish.

Abrasive or knife?KRONEN distinguishes abrasive PL 25K/40K machines from its knife-peeling PL 25S. Treat the method as a selection variable, not a promise that either will suit every crop.
Brush dutyFor HELPER's SXJ family, define cleaning, polishing or peeling first. Ask which brush configuration is proposed for your crop and finish; one brush specification should not be assumed suitable for every duty.
Inspect the discharged batchIn a trial, check remaining skin, surface damage and manual trimming needed after discharge. Retain before-and-after samples from the same crop lot.
Measure useful yieldAgree how samples are drained and weighed. Record incoming weight, usable product after trimming, rejects and elapsed batch time. A short video cannot establish these results for your crop.

What information is needed to select vegetable processing equipment?

Why should vegetable line capacity be based on accepted output?

Gross inlet rate does not include trimming, peeling loss, off-size cuts, damage, rejects or residual water. Compare saleable kilograms per hour after the required process steps and within an agreed quality window.

Can one vegetable processing line handle different crops?

Sometimes, but crop geometry, firmness, maturity, soil load and damage sensitivity can change washing, peeling, cutting and transfer requirements. Confirm the required crop range with representative samples and change parts.

When is vegetable dewatering required?

Dewatering is used when residual surface water affects mixing, freezing, shelf life or packaging. The equipment and cycle depend on product fragility, batch size and the accepted moisture and damage limits.

What should be tested before approving a vegetable processing line?

Test representative and difficult raw material, then record cleaning result, peel or cut quality, damage, yield, water use, residual moisture, accepted output, changeover and sanitation against the agreed criteria.
