Food Recipe Batch Scaling Calculator

Scale a trial or production recipe to a new batch weight while preserving ingredient proportions.

Scale a food recipe to a new batch size

Enter the original batch weight, target batch weight and ingredient lines in the format Ingredient, weight. The calculator applies one scale factor to every ingredient and reports the new batch formula.

Who should use this calculator?

Product developers

Move trial recipes into pilot or production batches without changing proportions.

Production teams

Prepare ingredient weights for a different mixer or kettle batch.

Equipment buyers

Compare recipe batch weight with usable machine capacity.

Scaled ingredient weight = original ingredient weight x target batch / original batch

Before releasing a scaled recipe

Verify total weight

Ingredient weights should reconcile with the declared original batch.

Review process behavior

Mixing, heating, cooling and resting times may not scale linearly with batch mass.

Control critical ingredients

Confirm legal limits, weighing accuracy and addition sequence independently.

Recipe scaling FAQ

Do mixing and cooking times scale by the same factor?

No. Equipment geometry and heat or mass transfer change when batch size changes.

Can percentages be entered instead of weights?

This version accepts ingredient weights. Percentage-based formulas can first be converted using the target batch weight.

Does this validate food safety or additive limits?

No. The user remains responsible for formulation, labeling, allergens and applicable regulations.
