Is the lowest nameplate capacity always the bottleneck?
No. Efficiency changes effective capacity, so a faster machine with poor utilization can constrain the line.
Can a buffer increase line capacity?
A buffer can absorb temporary variation but does not increase the long-term capacity of the slowest stage.
Should upstream and downstream yields be included?
Yes when material mass changes. Convert capacities to a consistent accepted-output basis.
