Root vegetable preparation
JX Root Vegetable Brush Washer & Peeler
Batch-loading brush equipment for washing and abrasive peeling of potatoes, carrots, sweet potatoes, ginger, taro and similar firm root vegetables. Available through HELPER with the retained JX-series designation.

Wash and peel in one brush chamber
Rotating brush rollers turn and rub the vegetables while water carries away loosened soil, surface debris and separated peel. The stainless-steel machine body surrounds the processing chamber, with loading access above and a discharge opening for transferring the batch to the next stage.
This is a batch preparation machine rather than a complete continuous processing line. It can form part of a root-vegetable preparation route before cutting, cooking, freezing or other downstream processing. The required finish determines the brush configuration and the trial conditions.
Washing and peeling are different targets. A customer wanting clean, skin-on vegetables should specify that finish; a customer wanting peeled ingredients should describe the permitted residual skin and edible-material loss. One nominal hourly output does not describe both results.

Watch root vegetable brush washing and peeling
This short demonstration shows root vegetables being processed in a brush chamber. Watch the movement of the potatoes over the brushes and the close-up of a carrot after processing.
What to watch
The moving produce helps illustrate how brush contact reaches different sides of a batch. Use the visible surface result as a starting point for discussing the finish you want on your own crop.

The product listing includes potatoes, carrots, sweet potatoes, ginger, taro, radishes and other firm root vegetables. These crops vary in shape, surface texture and skin thickness, so compatibility and the desired surface finish should be checked with representative raw material.
Central kitchens, fresh-cut processors and root-vegetable preparation facilities can discuss this equipment for soil removal, washing and abrasive peeling. Supply photographs of the incoming crop and a sample or photograph of the desired finished condition. Include the size range and any seasonal changes that could affect processing.
Leafy vegetables, soft ripe fruit and delicate produce require a different washing approach. For those applications, review the bubble and vortex vegetable washing line instead of assuming brush equipment is suitable.
Five published size configurations
The supplier’s schedule lists sizes 45, 60, 80, 100 and 150. Its main product record identifies the largest configuration as JX-150. Other rows retain the published size numbers rather than assigning an unconfirmed full model code.
| Listed size / model | Motor power (kW) | Batch loading (kg) | Indicative output (kg/h) | Machine weight (kg) | Dimensions (mm) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 45 | 0.75 | 10–12 | 150 | 75 | 700 × 600 × 700 |
| 60 | 0.75 | 15–20 | 350 | 130 | 850 × 760 × 1150 |
| 80 | 1.1 | 35–40 | 410 | 160 | 1080 × 760 × 1150 |
| 100 | 1.1 | 40–50 | 550 | 190 | 1280 × 760 × 1150 |
| JX-150 | 1.5 | 100–110 | 750 | 230 | 1780 × 760 × height to confirm |
These are published catalogue values, not a HELPER production guarantee. Output and peeling results depend on crop variety, size, incoming condition, brush configuration, batch load and required finish. JX-150 installation height is confirmed against the order-specific drawing. The listing offers 220 V / 380 V options; phase, frequency and destination electrical requirements must be specified in the quotation.
Choose the machine around the finished result
Start with the required accepted output and the produce to be processed. The appropriate size depends on the batch load and the complete loading, processing and discharge cycle. The customer’s target should refer to usable finished vegetables, with an agreed surface finish, rather than incoming weight alone.
Confirm the brush type for washing, light skin removal or more intensive abrasive peeling. Increased abrasion may also remove edible material. A representative trial should therefore examine the surface result alongside the product loss, not treat a cleaner appearance as the only selection measure.
Plan the machine’s position relative to inspection, cutting and other equipment. Water supply, drain routing, access for cleaning and maintenance, and discharge collection need to fit the actual installation. The product listing does not provide verified water consumption, brush service life or a standard loss percentage; request configuration-specific information.

Questions before selecting a brush washer and peeler
Does this machine only wash, or can it also peel?
The listed equipment combines water-assisted brush washing with abrasive peeling. The required brush configuration and finish should be specified for the actual crop. A washing-only requirement should not be substituted with an aggressive peeling configuration.
Is the JX series the same as the HELPER SXJ series?
No. They are separate product records with different published size schedules. Compare the SXJ brush peeler and polisher series by crop, configuration and required finish; do not transfer SXJ specifications to the JX series.
Can the catalogue output be used as a guaranteed production rate?
No. The stated output is indicative. Confirm the required finished-product condition and review a representative trial, including batch handling and discharge, before agreeing the production requirement.
What should be confirmed for installation?
Request the selected model’s final drawing and electrical schedule, together with water and drainage requirements, service access and the receiving arrangement for the next process. For JX-150, the installation height must be confirmed before finalising the layout.
Tell HELPER what you need to prepare
For a useful quotation, send the crop, incoming size range, desired washed or peeled finish, target usable output, electricity supply, installation space and downstream process. Include sample photographs and identify whether the machine will stand alone or connect to other preparation equipment.
